Best Practices C-20 Groups

Improve the performance of your operation through the exchange of Best Practices with up to 20 similar Cannabis Industry businesses under the facilitation of Baker Davis Management Consultants. Best Practices C-20 Groups are facilitated by Senior Consultants who have a depth and breadth of experience that is unparalleled within the industry. A typical Best Practices member will see a 10X return on their investment in a Best Practices Group every year.

Best Practices Groups meet three-four times a year to exchange detailed information about their individual businesses, address problems and brainstorm solutions.

Baker Davis Consultants’ expert facilitators bring the latest in management strategies, coaching, and operational strategies from multiple industries. The value added by the Baker Davis Team is unparalleled.

A typical Best Practices meeting is a two day event broken into the following areas of interest:

  • State of the Cannabis Business. Here Group Members share what is new at their operations, what their current concerns are, and what changes they have made to address their concerns.
  • Financial Composite. Group Members report their financial performance on a quarterly basis to be compared to a set of performance benchmarks for their industry segment.
  • Idea Exchange. Here, Group Members present a specific profit improvement idea to the group and, to make it more interesting, some groups pool an entrance fee which is given to the Group Member with the winning idea.
  • Specific Topics. The Best Practices Group will decide on a subject about which they would like more information or education, such as compensation, insurance, recruiting, tax planning, facilities, etc. Occasionally, an outside speaker with expertise in a given subject will supplement the session.
  • Open Forum. There will be topics that the Group Members would like to discuss that are not on the agenda. This portion of the session involves discussing ideas, asking questions, and solving problems.

One year of participation in a Best Practices Group produces such significant profit and operational improvements that clients often wonder why they didn’t join a group sooner.

In an established industry with existing Best Practices Groups, new members are typically  referred by other members. Each Best Practices Group votes to approve a new member.

In those industries where Best Practices Groups do not exist, our Consultants identify Group Member candidates that possess similar operating characteristics, but do not compete directly with one another. The candidates are invited to become the Founder Members of a Best Practices Group. Once a Best Practices Group has 10 Founder Members, each Founder Member is entitled to sponsor a single candidate business to join as a Group Member. Sponsored Group Member candidates are approved without a vote. Each C-20 Group is activated when 20 Group Members have joined.
